Capital Preparatory is hiring a combined 3rd and 4th grade teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. This role leads a blended classroom environment designed to support strong academic growth, character development, and individualized instruction.

Position Overview

Capital Preparatory is hiring a strong, mission-aligned elementary teacher to lead a combined 3rd and 4th grade classroom. This is a blended, differentiated learning environment capped at 20 students and supported by paraprofessionals. We are seeking a foundational teacher who brings strong classroom leadership, clear instruction, and a heart for developing both academic excellence and character in students.

This role is ideal for an educator who thrives in collaborative environments, uses data to drive instruction, and partners closely with families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a combined 3rd and 4th grade classroom using differentiated instruction.

Required Qualifications

Co-Teacher – Grades K–1 and 2–3

Position Summary

Capital Preparatory is a private Christian school committed to individualized instruction, character formation, and academic excellence. We are seeking a dedicated, nurturing, and spiritually grounded Co-Teacher to work collaboratively in our K–1 or 2–3 classrooms. The Co-Teacher will support whole-group instruction, lead small-group learning, and ensure every child receives the differentiated attention they need to flourish academically and spiritually.

Key Responsibilities

Instructional Support

  • Assist the lead teacher in delivering instruction aligned with Capital Prep’s curriculum and mission
  • Lead small-group or individualized lessons in reading, math, and other core areas
  • Implement differentiated strategies to meet diverse learning needs

Classroom Management and Culture

  • Model and reinforce classroom routines, procedures, and behavioral expectations
  • Build strong, respectful relationships with students rooted in love, structure, and consistency
  • Support a Christ-centered classroom culture that reflects the fruits of the Spirit

Faith and Character Integration

  • Participate in daily devotions, prayer, and character formation activities
  • Serve as a role model for Christian living, both in and out of the classroom

Collaboration and Communication

  • Meet regularly with the lead teacher for planning and student progress review
  • Maintain open and supportive communication with families under the direction of the lead teacher
  • Participate in faculty meetings, PLCs (Professional Learning Communities), and school events

Administrative and Logistical Support

  • Help prepare instructional materials, centers, and classroom displays
  • Assist with arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, and transitions
  • Support assessment preparation and student data collection

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field preferred
  • Experience working with young children in an academic or childcare setting
  • A deep love for Jesus Christ and a desire to disciple young learners in faith and character
  • Strong communication skills, patience, and a growth-oriented mindset
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a lead teacher and receive coaching

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in early literacy or early math instruction
  • Experience with differentiated instruction, behavior management, or small-group teaching
  • Familiarity with Christian education or private school settings

Paraprofessional

Capital Preparatory, located at 2811 Industrial Plaza Drive in Tallahassee, FL, is seeking applications for a full-time Paraprofessional to work with a Lead Teacher in 2nd/3rd, 4th/5th, and 6th/7th grade multi-aged classrooms.

Applicants should be able to:

  • Support education staff to ensure the safety and well-being of all children in classrooms.
  • Plan and execute rigorous, teacher-created, hands-on thematic and project-based lessons.
  • Implement and support instruction and assessment practices for a diverse group of students that reflect the Florida Standards and the Abeka curriculum.
  • Maintain a physical classroom environment that is conducive to the learning process.

Requirements

  • An Associate’s degree or comparable work experience demonstrating proficiency in specific academic subject areas
  • Two (2) years working in an educational setting preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and organization skills
  • A passion for the mission of Capital Preparatory
  • Ability to pass the required background check

Capital Preparatory uses an internal list of substitute teachers that is separate from the Leon County Schools substitute list. All substitute teachers must have an approved background check done through Leon County Schools prior to working at Capital Preparatory. The typical school day is from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm. Pay is $14.00 per hour for approximately 7 hours per day, depending on the need.
